Antec Mini Skeleton-90 Open Air Mini-ITX Case @ tweaktown.com [Nov-03-09] (0 Comments) Back in May we looked at the Antec Skeleton and I was quite pleased with what Antec was offering in their uniquely designed open air chassis. I loved the concept and using and installing components in it was a breeze. The top mounted fan worked wonders for keeping RAM and chipset coolers full of cool air flow, greatly reducing the ambient air the motherboard sat in. the biggest complaint I had then was head room for CPU coolers. Let’s see what they have come up with this time.Today we are looking at the Mini Skeleton-90 from Antec. This version is a mITX compatible, sized down model of the Skeleton I previously reviewed. Since things were so easy and pleasurable to use the first time around, I don’t expect many issues, aside from cooler clearances. Enough with what I expect, let’s get to the images and let the product speak for itself! Win a CoolIt Domino A.L.C. Let’s see ifit performs to the same specification of more well-known CPU Coolers. Thermaltake ISGC-300 CPU Cooler @ tweaktown.com [Apr-21-09] (0 Comments) I get quite a few coolers to test that pass over my desk. Most of these coolers follow the basic tower design and heatpipes of various quantities and diameters that remove the heat either by directly touching the IHS of the CPU, or removing it from an aluminum or copper base. What soon follows after the design is to start looking at a sufficient cooling mechanism or a high CFM fan in most instances. We should all know by now that with high CFM fans brings with them an elevated noise level as well. Thermaltake is one of the smaller percentages of manufacturers that are taking the jump to silent computing. They have developed a line of ISGC, or Inspiration of Silent Gaming Cooling CPU coolers. Thermaltake incorporates a new fan to cool this line-up of coolers, the Pure Silence ISGC Fan 12. This fan provides a decent amount of CFM and has some technology involved to keep the noise levels down to a whisper while in use. More on these fans will be discussed later in this review. Will this case live up to its name and beas quiet as a whisper? Let's find out in this review. Best CPU Cooler Performance - Q4 2008 @ benchmarkreviews.com [Jan-05-09] (0 Comments) From my experience, 2008 has been a very good year for CPU coolers. We've tested the OCZ Vendetta 2 to perform as well or better than AVADirect Custom Overclocked Gaming System @ pcper.com [Oct-27-08] (0 Comments) On the other hand, none of the above mentioned system builderswill let you select components with such detail as AVADirect does on theirwebsite. There are MANY different cases that you can choose from, allkinds of memory vendor brands as well as very specific CPU coolers. Ifyou are an experienced enthusiast that is familiar with brands like CoolerMaster, Thermaltake and others, then you have an advantage in being ableto select from these groups for AVADirect to build your computer from. [News] Vantec Aeroflow FX92/FX120 HDT CPU Coolers @ virtual-hideout.net [Oct-13-08] (0 Comments) I'd have to say that the FX92 is definitely not a heatsink to passup; though it does manage to make itself heard when spinning up to meet theload, it's cooling performance nearly matches that of the much heaviersinks, and even an upgraded watercooling kit. That's nothing to sneeze at.So, what we now have sitting here are a pair of products - one which isgreat, and one that needs work. On the plus side, though - they both workwell enough, are accessible enough, and cheap enough to recommend, andthat's a step forward. Let’s resurrect this staple ofdays gone by, and find out if it can beat today’s preferred format. XIGMATEK HDT-SD964 CPU Cooler @ tweaktown.com [Aug-14-08] (0 Comments) With a trio of heatpipe direct touch CPU cooler reviews under our belts, I can definitively say that the tech is quickly catching on and spreading like wildfire. I am standing strong behind my statement from the last review of a H.D.T. cooler that I think this is the direction most CPU heatsinks will go in the future; much like the way nearly all CPU coolers use heatpipes nowadays.Today we are going to take a look at the HDT-SD964 from XIGMATEK. Unlike all of the Heatpipe Direct Touch (H.D.T.) coolers we have looked at thus far, this cooler does not use a 120mm fan. The HDT-SD964 uses a 92mm fan and is a little shorter than the others. This will allow the cooler to be placed in smaller enclosures like 4U server chassis’ and equal sized media center cases. Sunbeamtech Core Contact Freezer - XSs @ xsreviews.co.uk [Aug-06-08] (0 Comments) Youcan see all manner of designs and technology these days on CPU coolersranging from the weird and wonderful, to the more conservative andstylish. But it is the technologies behind the cooling that matters themost to any hardware enthusiast. One technology that has offeredimpressive performance in the past is the HDT design, where theheatpipes actually touch the CPU. This should deliver greater andfaster dissipation due to increased contact between the heat transportcomponents, in this case the heatpipes and the core. One product that has this tech and wishes to use it to create somehopefully great results, is the Sunbeamtech Core Contact Freezer. Letstake this one for a spin and see how its does. Thermaltake DuOrb CPU Cooler @ thinkcomputers.org [Jul-31-08] (0 Comments) The Thermaltake DuOrb CPU Cooler provides more than just CPUcooling. The dual fan design cools the entirety of the upper portion of themotherboard in addition to the CPU. The DuOrb includes double-sided radiantheatpipes disperse the heat through the extensive number of fins surroundeach fan. APACK ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120 Premium @ tweaktown.com [Jul-28-08] (0 Comments) Even though ZEROtherm doesn’t have a long history of enthusiast products, their quality has impressed me thus far. The Hurricane HC92 won an award in our Mega 9-way VGA cooler roundup back in April. And their latest product, the ZEN FZ 120 proved to be a great performer with the added benefit of costing less than enthusiast CPU coolers. Today we will be looking at ZEROtherm’s flagship cooler; the Nirvana NV120 Premium. The Nirvana has a small price premium over the ZEN; around 10 Dollars here in the States. Newegg currently lists the ZEN with a 10 Dollar mail-in rebate which negates the price difference. It will be interesting to see if and how much better the Premium cooler performs compared to the newer ZEN 120 that we reviewed last month. Most obvi ous is that it is not a tower cooler. One of its other features worth men tioning is that it is quiet for an active cooler; at 15 dBA you would hav e a hard time hearing this fan inside any case. If you are looking for si lence from your PC this should be on your list of CPU coolers to purchase ... [News] Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler @ virtual-hideout.net [Apr-12-08] (0 Comments) All its splendor aside, it's a fantastic performer. It's easily thebest, most capable cooler to cross this test bench. While it carries overthe commonly seen tower design, the performance will easily be the decidingfactor for the user who literally wants nothing but the coolest CPUpossible. The Noctua NH-U12P is a great performer, it's cool, it'srecommended, and it's my current top choice of CPU coolers. [News] Kingwin Heat-Pipe Direct Touch CPU Coolers @ virtual-hideout.net [Apr-04-08] (0 Comments) The overall designs for the H.D.T. coolers are great. The install onthe RVT-12025D model was easier than the RVT-12025. This was due to a tightclearance issue with my fingers pushing down on the pins for the Intelinstall. On a positive note, the motherboard removal was not necessary, andthat is another major plus in my book for CPU cooler installs. With thatsaid, both H.D.T coolers performed well, both are damn near silent, and theoption of either a tower or low profile unit is another plus. OrigenAE C10 Low Profile CPU Cooler @ techpowerup.com [Apr-03-08] (0 Comments) Most HTPC users will find that there are only a limited number of CPU coolers available to use in most HTPC cases because of their smaller size. Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU Cooler @ tweaktown.com [Feb-12-08] (0 Comments) While the design isn't unique, it does follow a pattern set for th by some very efficient CPU Coolers. From a distance it would be diffic ult to tell the 212 from our current performance leader and award winner, the Noctua NH-12P; the designs are so close.Cooler Master does have a vast distribution system and getting your hands on a Hyper 212 is going to be a lot easier than finding the Rosewill Z5. A big plus for consumers is that they can walk into many retail location s and pull a Cooler Master product right off of the shelf. Tuniq Tower 120 Ultra Silent CPU Cooler @ rbmods.com [Feb-08-08] (0 Comments) One thing that is common with most CPU coolers that use air coolingis that they typically include a fan. We've seen all kinds of fan mounts-either horizontal or vertical, and on all sides of the cooler. But whatabout sticking the fan in the middle of the cooler? Tuniq, makers of a widevariety of computer products, has produced a new cooler, the Tuniq Tower 120CPU cooler, that does just that. Will this unique design result in coolerperformance? Let's find out in this review. Most of the coolers areuniversally compatible with AMD and Intel processors. So, with this manyoptions, what type of cooler will we have in this review? Well, I'm sure youalready have a pretty good idea just from the name in the title, but I willstill name it fully here. The CPU cooler in the spotlight this time aroundis the ASUS Triton 75. The Triton 75 is a fan-less CPU cooler that helpsdissipates heat away from the core roughly 10% faster than other coolers. The fan-less design allows the end user to choose whatever brand of 120mmfan they want. [News] ASUS Silent Knight II CPU Cooler @ virtual-hideout.net [Jan-12-08] (0 Comments) The most promising physical technological improvements have been, and still are, the implementation of heat pipes. Manufacturers have designedheat pipe specific CPU coolers using various numbers of pipes. Some makersdesign theirs with only a couple heat pipes while others seem to add as manyas they can fit on a CPU cooler. Some look like CPU coolers and others looklike engines with copper headers. While all these variations have their ownappeal, ASUS has chosen to design coolers with a more isometric feel intheir lineup. We've seen a few of their coolers here at VH before and they were alwaysworthy of recommendations. We have a new one on hand that is actually anupdated version of the original Silent Knight CPU Cooler. Today, the SilentKnight II CPU Cooler is on the work bench and looks quite promising. The CNPS7500-Cuoffers improved performance over the CNPS7700. It is also made of 100%copper and has an 110 mm silent fan just like the CNPS8700. Both coolerssport the Flower Heatsink Design, which is comprised of a plethora of copperfins atop a copper base, with a clear fan with LED lights set in the centerof the fins. The only major difference between the two is that the CNPS8700LED also has heatpipes incorporated into the design. Which one cools better? Are they as quiet as Zalman claims? These thought-provoking questions arejust what this review will attempt to answer. Zaward VIVO PCJ004 Exposed Copper Heatpipe CPU Cooler @ benchmarkreviews.com [Sep-21-07] (0 Comments) Many manufacturers search out designs that will help them develop a product known for extraordinary performance. Benchmark Reviews has already reviewed many of the very best CPU coolers Thermaltake's MaxOrb and V1 CPU coolers @ bit-tech.net [Aug-16-07] (0 Comments) Neither ofthese heatsinks are outright cheaper than the competition, but they areboth available around the £30 mark - this is certainly a viable cost toanyone looking for a performance cooler. The MaxOrb is on the rightside of that £30 depending where you shop and offers a marginallybetter performance, although it is physically larger. But does thatmatter? It still fits on every board we tried it on and even though themounting is a bit of a hassle at first, once the clips are on/screwsare in, it's job done in five minutes. Pop the kettle on and have abrew waiting for when you've finished. The V1 has more intuitive and accessible clips, whereas the Orb needsclips and a screw retention, but the beauty of the MaxOrb is that theretention clips don't need forcefully pushing into the motherboardbecause they are just used to mount the surrounding plate. All in all, set the fan to medium-low and both will cool fantasticallywell for a very reasonable investment of around £30. Both provide agreat cooler for the investment, but the MaxOrb simply looks great in acase and despite being a pain to install, once in, it performs betterthan the V1 with a similar amount of (low) noise. Zerotherm CF800 and CF900 CPU Coolers @ pro-clockers.com [Aug-13-07] (0 Comments) The enormous amount of heat produced by today's dual and quad-coreprocessors makes purchasing a third-party CPU cooler almost a necessity forany user building a performance computer system. Most quality heatsinks will cost around $50, butZerotherm's CF800 and CF900 heatsinks won't break the bank at $29.99 a piece, and should provide PCbuilders with a cost-effective solution to cool today's hottest CPUs. The real questions toanswer in this review are if the copper-based CF900 can outperform thealuminum-based CF800, and whether there is a big enough difference betweenthem and the stock Intel cooler to warrant the expense. We'll let theresults speak for themselves. Neoseeker Thermaltake Golden Orb II @ neoseeker.com [Sep-14-05] (0 Comments) The cooler has a fairly manageable 120mm diameter but weighs in at roughly750 grams, not making it a true lightweight by current standards. It uses 66aluminum fins in a radial pattern protruding from a copper core in a verysimilar fashion to what Zalman has been doing with their current line up ofCPU coolers. The 100mm fan in the Golden Orb II spins at only 1600 RPM, butis large enough to still move a respectable 35 CFM of air. When powered up,a blue LED illuminates the pearly translucent blades giving the cooler aunique look in comparison to similarly constructed heat sinks. Evercool HPC Ice Man @ insanetek.com [Sep-08-05] (0 Comments) There are so many companies releasing heatpipe tower CPU coolers that Evercool can't miss the bandwagon. Scythe Katana @ insanetek.com [Aug-17-05] (0 Comments) CPU coolers don't always have to provide better performance with each new design. The Scythe Katana brings in great performancewith great silence. It also cools the small components around the CPU socket. Cooler Master Hyper 6+ @ overclockersonline.com [Jul-11-05] (0 Comments) The Hyper 6+ faired well against the NT02, but its 100mm fan placed higher up in the heatsink frame couldn't keep the system temps the NT02 had to offer. While performance may be the most important factor for CPU coolers, we can't neglect simplicity. If its hard to install, users won't buy it. The Hyper 6+ was not the easiest cooler to install. It was more difficult to install and it would most certainly be nice if future revisions could simplify the install procedure. Zalman VF700-AlCu VGA Cooler @ atruereview.com [Feb-13-05] (0 Comments) While the majority of the CPU cooler market has embraced incorporating heat pipes into their coolers, Zalman has found a great deal of success with its zero heatpipe CFPS7 series of oversized bowl shaped CPU coolers. They offer very quiet, albeit not supreme, cooling performance. Now, Zalman has applied the same oversized heatsink and fan cooler design into a cooler that cools the second hottest chip in a computer system, the video card's GPU (graphics processing unit). MGE Quantum Case Review @ InsaneTek [Dec-29-04] (0 Comments) When consumers look for cases, they are attracted by its looks. Hopefully, the pretty case will be built with high quality materials. MGE strives to meet these standards with their new cases. MGE Company (Manufacturer of Great Electronics) was first started in 1990, but has not made a huge impression in the computer world. A recent poll in our forums reflects the relatively low recognition of the brand. Yet, they have introduced many products over the years, ranging from CPU coolers to computer cases. Today we'll be looking at one of their newest products: the MGE Quantum Black Mid-Tower. Zalman CNPS7700-AlCu Ultra Silent CPU Cooler @ A True Review [Nov-29-04] (0 Comments) With CPU speeds climbing higher and higher; so too is the amount of heat they put out. This is reason that it is a golden age for after market CPU coolers. More and more users are finding out that stock coolers are just not cutting it. One of the most noticeable traits of after market coolers is how big they are getting. This is due to the idea that the bigger the heatsink, the more surface area there is to dissipate heat. An example of this idea is Zalman's newest addition to their CNPS7 series of CPU coolers, the CNPS7700-AlCu Ultra Silent CPU Cooler. Evercool Mini Water Cooler @ techniz.co.uk [Nov-28-04] (0 Comments) Evercool is the top 5 cooling fan manufacturer in Taiwan, we specialized in PC Thermal Solutions, especially in CPU cooling field, our main products including CPU Coolers, DC Fans, Heat Sinks, H.D.D. Coolers and System Blowers. Computers having a quick increase temperature need a good heat dissipation, and the air cool method adopted in the past habitually speeds up the fan to increase the air flow. However, such arrangement brings the problemof loud noise while improving the heat dissipation performance. The model of this mini water cooler is only solution such an annoying problem. The mini water cooler can be used individually for heat dissipation of a CPU, a GPU or an HDD as well as the heat dissipation for any combination of the series connection of the CPU, GPU and HDD. Our review sample was a mini water cooler for the CPU only. News: Cooler Master Hyper 6 cooler reviewed @ MetkuMods [Apr-21-04] (0 Comments) Cooler Master have a long history with CPU coolers and they are one of the pioneering companies that introduced heat pipes to the coolers, such as HHC-L61. This time we will take a look at their latest innovation, the Hyper 6 (KHC-V81-U1) that includes six heat pipes. All-copper heatsink that should offer great cooling power for both Intel P4 and AMD's K8 CPUs. Spire Skivestream 3 cpu cooler @ Rbmods [Feb-26-04] (0 Comments) CPU coolers have enlarged as with the speed of the processors themselves, this is due to the more complex you make a processor and the faster it runs the more power is required therefore more heat is produced. This leads to us now connecting 600-800g behemoths of coolers to our socket lugs, which I why I was suppressed when I saw the spire SkiveStream III as its dimensions are quite small. Diabolic Minotaur Mid-Tower ATX Case Review @ OCIA [Jan-11-04] (0 Comments) You will notice the monster 120mm fan that provides for most of the case’s airflow. There is always a debate over whether negative pressure or positive pressure is better for airflow. I personally prefer negative pressure because it allows cool air to be pulled from any opening in the case. This is not the case with CPU coolers, however, but that is a different story all together. One other thing to point out here is the mechanism above the expansion card slots. This is a hold-down for the expansion cards that replaces the normal screw hold-downs. A very nice feature IMO, as I tend to change out PCI/AGP cards on a regular basis. Scythe Kamakaze CPU Cooler @ Rbmods [Jan-10-04] (0 Comments) Every overclocker wants a cool processor, we don’t want to have a hot processor as this means less overclock, although the cost of this is a noisy computer? Not necessarily so. I have been running a volcano 7+ with a 80mm delta ‘screamer’ fan, its called the ‘screamer’ for one reason the ridiculous noise that it makes! I have to confess that the fan is only ever at full speed when overclocked and under load, but still the noise when the fan is at half speed can be irritating. Water cooling I hear you cry, nice and quiet but to get the equivalent cooling I need to spend around £100. There is another option the growing breed of ‘quiet’ cpu coolers. Lately more and more quiet coolers have been coming onto the market, even some passive but unfortunately they are no good for more than browsing let alone overclocking and nice low temperatures. Today we are going to be looking at a quiet cooler from ‘Scythe’ called the kamikaze. 135 results. New search. |
