Some of the most comprehensive AV testing is done by a company called AV-Comparatives, which test a variety of scanners against a huge database of viral infections. This is one of the most effective ways of measuring the performance of AV scanners, and provides a much more representative result than personal testing. In the latest test of on-demand AV scanners (Feb 09), Kaspersky is tested alongside 16 other products in their default modes. A 97.1 overall detection rate was achieved, which is roughly a mid-table result – however the number of false positives was significantly lower than many other scanners.

I had the opportunity to spend some time testing and evaluating this motherboard with two sets of CPUs and two types of memory. First using two X5482 Harpertowns (3200/12mb/1600) and 4x2 gig of Transcend DDR2-800 FB-Dimms, and later on using two E5450 Harpertowns(3000/12mb/1333).This EATX board is built using the newest 5400 Seaburg chipset with 1600FSB support built in. The layout is a typical EATX 12x13” design and like previous versions uses 24, 8 and 4 pin connections to the motherboard. With this new series, a 4 pin Molex connector is added to the board for users with higher power needs. There are 8 Dimm slots for quad channel memory support (up to and including DDR2-800 FB-Dimms) for a maximum of 64 gigs. Today we have a review of two Silverstone Tech products for you
lucky readers; a transfer bracket and 3.5 Front I/O Module. While its
not as flashy as a case, motherboard, or graphics card, these devices are
still very important in the PC industry. Arriving in a slightly beat up
version of our good friend Sir Brown Box, the packages were retrieved
unharmed from their protective cage of cardboard and packing peanuts. At
first site, we got a good impression of these devices. But we must
remember, appearances can be deceiving, and first impressions can be
wrong. So how well do these items really fair in their tasks? Read on and
find out!

Every since the Winbond BH-5 chips became as scarce as hens teeth computer enthusiasts have been on the lookout for any memory that would approach the BH-5 claimed speeds. Earlier this year with the release of the Samsung TCCD chip it became evident that there was a new player in town as far as low latency memory was concerned. Not one to sit on the sidelines Mushkin immediately started designing a replacement memory module to take the place of the discontinued Level II memory and came up with the new PC-3200 Level 2 Version 2 (2-2-2) memory. After seeing our benchmarks I think you will agree that this is some blazing fast memory.

As with anything else, trends in computer cases come and go. As the whole modding scene took off, we saw beige tin cans replaced with hulking great black boxes which were judged solely on the number of cooling fans they could accommodate. Lian Li started the craze for all things aluminium and the last couple of years have seen the rise of cheap pre-modded cases in every garish colour imaginable.

We do not have a catalogue of chipset heatsinks tests to compare this Micro Cool NorthPole with but have to say that the fan worked very well even at only 4.5 volts giving a surprising steady flow of air through the heatsink.
We can only whole heartily recommend this excellent Micro Cool NorthPole chipset heatsink and all the other heatsinks for anybody looking for what must be the best chipset heatsink.

I've modified the layout a bit and improved the documentation considerably. The
registry backup/restore tool has been greatly improved and a couple oddball settings
were added since the last version. Overall this build is quite a bit more "polished"
than previous builds. It's been nearly 2 months since my last release and I'm back
to workin on software. My Performance Tweaking application is back on track for a
first release in the not too distant future.

What I will be stating is that if you are moving to the new Intel LGA775 specification or the new Athlon64 PCI Express motherboard and you just need a basic 2D videocard, the X300 based alternatives on the market will make you more than happy. If you are even considering gaming, do yourself a favor and upgrade to an X600 if you want some decent playable framerates on any of the more recent or newly released games on the market.

Its a large area to move your mouse on, its constructed of anodized aluminum, it has very good rubber grips to anchor it down to your desk, and its much easier to change sides than the fUnc 1030 because you just flip the whole mat. The mouse glides over both sides exceptionally, especially if your mouse has Teflon feet. The pad feels solid and natural, and the aluminum trim does not bother your hand or wrist at all...

The only thing really keep us from getting overly excited is the lack of native
SATA, and the inability to run 4 x double sided ram at 400MHz.. All the other issues

The stock speeds of the SuperTalent RAM were more than acceptable when compared to
the Crucial 4000. Scoring right behind the Crucial, the SuperTalent RAM has an
excellent score at Stock speeds. Of course, when overclocked, the Crucial 4000 comes
out on top. Once again, you can see the benefit that Dual Channel RAM provides. The
SuperTalent wallops the single stick of Geil.

SquirrelBBS will be developed by me on my spare time, however, my main goal is to always keep it free, and make it so everyone can use it how they want. There will be very little restrictions on it's use.
IPB has inspired me to do this project as the direction they are going indicates that they will soon go fee-based, and it is sad to see a good BBS system go in the water like that.
